Nickerson, 65, of Dracut, died Thursday, March 26th, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, at Lowell General Hospital, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Catherine (Mainville) Nickerson, with whom he shared 25 loving years of marriage. Bob was born in Lowell on February 8, 1950. He was a son of the late Carl and Ernestine (Carty) Nickerson. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged. For many years, he worked in shipping and receiving and inventory control at DS Graphics in Lowell. Bob enjoyed visiting his camp in Maine and fishing with his children and grandchildren. He also had a love for gardening, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his two daughters, Katelyn Nickerson and Darrell Sullivan of Shirley, and Sarah Nickerson of Dracut; three grandchildren, Anthony, Deandre, and Leah; three siblings, Ronald Nickerson and his wife Margie of GA, Carlene Theall and her husband Thomas of Dracut, and Gayle Nickerson of Dracut; a niece, Kimberly Van Buren and her husband Eric of VT; three nephews, Scott Nickerson and his wife Min of GA, Carl and Joseph Theall of Dracut; his mother in law, Claire Mainville of FL; a sister in law, Louise Woodard and her husband Bradley of FL; four brothers in law; Denis Mainville and his wife Colleen of New Hampton, NH, David Mainville and his wife Karen of FL, Paul Mainville of FL, and Jeffrey Mainville and his wife Cheryl also of FL; his good friends Gene Heider and his wife Diana of Tewksbury; as well as many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends. He was predeceased by his sister in law, Susan Durette of Ft. Pierce, FL, and his father-in-law Omer Mainville. Bob's family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff at Lowell General Hospital for all of the love and care they showed to Bob and his family during his time there. ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 1-5 p.m. on SUNDAY, March 29th at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT. His funeral mass will be held from the funeral home at 9 a.m. on MONDAY, March 30th with his funeral Mass to follow at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, Lowell. Military Honors will follow. Burial will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lowell Cancer Center, 295 Varnum Avenue Lowell, MA 01854.
