Beloved Wife, Mother and Yiayia
Dracut, MA- Angeline “Kike” (Blatus) Papanotas, 82, succumbed to her illness on July 6, 2012 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA with her beloved family by her side.
Angeline was born in Dracut, MA on December 16, 1929, to Greek Orthodox immigrants, Irene Klemenakos and William Blatus. She was extremely proud of her heritage, religion and family. Angeline and Steve would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on July 8, 2012.
She was a very independent and ambitious woman. She was one of the first women in the Dracut area to get her driver's license and own a car. She worked for J. M. Fields in Lowell before starting a family. She was immensely devoted to her husband, daughters and grandchildren. They were the light in her eyes and the pride in her heart. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
She had many friends and was often the life of the party. Angeline was very creative and she enjoyed many crafts, including sewing, crocheting and making christmas ornaments. She was a long standing member of Dracut Arts and Crafts Guild. Her biggest pleasure in life was cooking and sharing meals with her family.
Summer was one of her favorite seasons because she loved spending time at her cottage on Hampton Beach.
Along with her husband Steve, Angeline is survived by her two daughters, Maria Murphy and her husband Brian of Dracut, Evie Ivos and her husband Mark also of Dracut, five grandchildren, Shannon Olson and her husband Jerry, Gregory Murphy, Christopher Ivos, Serges Murphy and Maria Ivos. She is also survived by her siblings, Eva Panagis, Nickolas Blatus and his wife Antonia , and Michael Blatus and his wife Toni all of Dracut, as well as several nieces and nephews and Godchildren.
Angeline was a very proud life long member of the Holy trinity Greek Orthodox Chruch. She was a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society and served as Dues Collector for many years.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10th at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 lakeview Ave., DRACUT. Her funeral will take place from the funeral home at 10 a.m. with her funeral service to take place at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery.
